Internship Program

When you log into Twitter, you’ll likely see a feature shipped by one of our interns. All of our interns have a hand in building a product that’s changing the world — whether you're in engineering, design, marketing, or legal. You’re given the freedom to take risks and the ability to use your knowledge to solve challenging problems.

Our internship program is a 12-week experience in the Fall, Spring, or Summer for students to fully immerse themselves into our culture and work alongside our teams. All interns receive a manager, mentor, feedback sessions, and engaging projects to make an impact. We host several educational, developmental, and social events for exposure to the organization, executives, and Business Resource Groups (BRGs). #LoveWhereYouIntern

Twitter is where inclusion lives. It’s where movements form, information is shared and change happens, all in real time. The world has seen this with conversations around #BlackLivesMatter, #SheInspiresMe, #LoveIsLove, #OrlandoStrong, #BlackWomenDidThat, and many more. We are focused on that spirit of inclusion in our workplace.

In effort to embrace and encourage inclusion, we offer multiple interactive on-site events for historically underrepresented students in tech. Attendees will participate in hands-on technical workshops, professional development seminars, meet with senior leaders, engage with our Business Resource Groups (BRGs), and explore career opportunities at Twitter.

    When should I apply?

    Our student application is open for full-time roles and internship opportunities. We encourage students to apply sooner rather than later. Apply at t.co/apply!

    What are the eligibility requirements?

    18 years or older and currently enrolled in a 2 to 4 year academic institution completing a undergraduate (Associate, BA, BS), graduate level (Masters, MBA, JD) or PhD degree. All students must submit an online application. 

    • New Grads: Must be enrolled in 2 or 4 year academic institution during the interview process.
    • Interns: Must be enrolled in 2 or 4 year academic institution and eligible for full-time conversion following their next and final year or semester of school. Interns must also be able to complete the full 12-week internship program.

    What locations does Twitter hire in?
    We have internships across the globe in all of our offices, dependent on which teams are looking to hire students. Our offices with the largest student hires are usually San Francisco, Boston, New York, Boulder, Seattle, Washington DC, London, and Singapore. 

     

    Does Twitter hire international students?

    Yes, we work with our Immigration Team on an individual basis to support various work authorization situations for both full-time and internship roles.

     

    When does Twitter have internships?

    Twitter has spring, summer, and fall internships. Twitter also supports students in co-op programs.

     

    Does Twitter have internship opportunities for undergraduate first or second year students?

    Yes, second-year students can apply to Twitter Academy, which is a 12-week summer internship in San Francisco. We do not have internships for first-year students but we do have #EarlyBird, which is a week long experience at our San Francisco office in the spring.

     

    #EarlyBird and Twitter Academy are specifically designed for historically underrepresented groups (black, Hispanic/ Latinx and/or Native American) in tech and all are welcome to apply. To learn more about our diversity initiatives, please visit t.co/IBelong.

     

    What is the hiring process for full-time roles and internship opportunities?

    Once your application is complete, our teams begin to review your profile. If a team is interested in your profile, TwitterU will reach out to begin the following interview process:

    • First round phone or video interview (includes values and technical/functional questions)
    • Final round onsite or video interview (includes one values and multiple technical/functional interviews)

     

    When will I hear back from TwitterU?

    We are continuously sharing your resume with our hiring managers throughout the recruiting season for all our open full-time roles and internship opportunities. If a team is interested in your profile, TwitterU will reach out.

     

    Why did I receive a HackerRank coding challenge?

    You selected Software Engineering and/or Infrastructure Engineering from the career interests on the University Recruiting application. While it is not mandatory, HackerRank allows you to demonstrate your technical aptitude, and it is in your best interest to complete a coding challenge for roles at Twitter. Coding challenges do not guarantee a next round of interviews.

     

    I previously interned at Twitter. Can I apply for another opportunity later?
    Absolutely! The application process for former Twitter interns is the same as for other candidates.

     

    I applied and was turned down, what's next?
    You may submit one application per recruiting season. We encourage you to reapply the following year for 2020 opportunities. You must demonstrate changes in your resume and experience (e.g., a new internship or extracurricular project).

     

    Will I be paid?
    We offer competitive salaries for both full-time roles and internship opportunities. Full-time candidates will receive relocation support if needed and interns will receive a housing stipend.
